Writing Leads
Writing Leads Meeting 23rd June 2022
We started this meeting by celebrating the successes that our schools have felt in writing this year, including two incredibly positive external KS2 moderations and 1 equally positive KS1 moderation. Once we identified our strengths, we discussed the areas for development.
We spent some time unpicking the Ofsted English research review and its implications. We identified parts of the review that we felt we do well, whilst also picking out areas that we need to consider.
This then fed in to some time to action plan and put our thoughts together. To do this, we used the EEF Implementation template. Colleagues found this a useful tool for putting their thoughts down.
Writing Leads Network Meeting - 26th January 2022
In January, our Writing Leads from across the Trust got together to discuss what Writing was looking like in our schools. We spent time looking at data and using our Insight tool to really analyse what our end of Autumn 2 information was telling us. This led to a discussion about the similarities and differences in the data and just how we are ensuring that our children are being taught the key skills that they need in order to become effective writers.
We had also asked colleagues from across the Trust to provide us with samples of writing. As leads, we spent some time moderating these pieces.
In our next meeting, we are going to spend some time putting together a CPD package for our schools to support teachers with engaging children for whom Writing is a barrier.
Thursday 11th November
Year 1 and Year 2 Writing Moderation:
Today, our Year 1 and Year 2 teachers had the opportunity to work with Catherine Caldwell to look at a range of different pieces of writing from across our Trust.
We discussed the issues and barriers that have resulted from the pandemic and the strategies that we have put in place in an attempt to mitigate these.
Our whole team were open and honest, resulting in a discussion that left everyone feeling positive
