    CEO Thought for the Week

    Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well and managing to dodge as many of the colds and coughs as possible in this final week of term!

My message this week is a simple one: what you do matters.

In fact, it probably matters far more than you will ever realise. The ripples created by your hard work, kindness and commitment travel further than any of us can imagine.

Last week, I bumped into someone I hadn’t seen for over 30 years, and before long we were reminiscing about school, our teachers and what we thought of them. What struck me was that, after all this time, we could remember very little of what we were actually taught — but we could both vividly remember the people. We remembered the teachers we liked, the TA's and Office staff who helped us and what made them special and, most importantly, how they made us feel.

That’s the incredible thing about working with children: you never quite know whose life you are changing or shaping.

And often, that impact happens without us even noticing. A smile. A kind word. A moment of encouragement. Simply role-modelling through the way we interact with others, the way we present ourselves and the attitude we bring each day. Children are taking all of this in, all of the time — something captured so powerfully in Dorothy Law Nolte’s poem Children Learn What They Live.

Our children are incredibly lucky to have you. Every single day, they are surrounded by brilliant examples of care, kindness, commitment and possibility — and that is down to all of you.

So, as we head towards a very well-earned half-term break, please take a moment to remember this: what you do matters, and so do you.

Thank you for everything you do. Enjoy the break when it arrives — you’ve earned it.

    Best Wishes

    Gavin
