Focussing on the Detail

CEO Thoughts

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a great half term break and have returned ready for the 2nd half of the school year! It's going to be busy as always!

You’ll have seen (or at least been unable to avoid!) the flurry of commentary following the recent release of the Education White Paper. There’s no doubt it signals significant change ahead for the sector, and plenty of people are rushing to make changes and try to be first in all that is new and shiny!

As a Trust, we’re being deliberately mindful about this. Rather than reacting to every headline, we’re allowing a bit of time for the dust – and the noise – to settle before taking any action. What is reassuring, though, is the clear recognition that strong, well-established trusts are seen as a key part of the future education landscape. On that front, Infinity is well positioned, and that’s something we can all feel quietly confident about.

Over half term, I also found myself watching a Gordon Ramsay series on Netflix (purely for professional development purposes, obviously…). What really struck me was that, beneath the bombast and colourful language, his continued success comes down to an unwavering focus on quality and attention to detail. He is relentless about standards, but equally relentless about supporting others to meet them. There’s something in that for all of us. While I’m not suggesting we adopt his communication style(!), his drive to keep the bar high – and to help others rise to it – feels very relevant as we navigate change together. So, in the middle of all this noise and headline news, let’s just ensure that within Infinity we focus on the core business of supporting children and each other. Focussing on the details and the quality of what we do in every lesson, every day. If we get that right, all the other stuff will naturally fall into place in time.

More to follow in due course, once things are a little clearer. Until then, thank you as ever for the professionalism, care, and commitment you bring to your roles every day.

Best wishes,
Gavin
