For the past 15 years my husband & I have run a historical artifact reproduction business. Living and working in three different counties has enabled me to engage with many different approaches to improving educational establishments. This is why I see the benefits of being part of a cross- county Academy trust. As a family we moved to the county of Lincolnshire 10 years ago. Our three children are each at different stages within the education system. This is my third term of office as a parent governor at Gipsey Bridge Academy; supporting the school through many strategic changes; at the centre of which the children will always remain. It is an exciting developmental time to be involved with education and our local governing body look forward to working with other schools within the MAT, sharing resources to further enhance our schools development.
B.Sc., B.A., PGCE. I have a diverse educational background, and am approaching the end of my career as a classroom teacher of Mathematics. This stretches back over most of the last thirty eight years.I have been a Governor at Gipsey Bridge since 2011, and a trustee from the Academy Trust’s inception in early 2013. I have previously served on the governing body of Boston Grammar School for six years and also been involved in leadership of voluntary organisations. I am very much interested in matters of individual motivation and clarity of ethos of individual establishments.
I have worked within the community since leaving school in 1999. I trained with Rotherham Youth Service and worked alongside the Children’s Society in compiling a national charter that recognises the needs and rights of a child in the workplace. I spent 7 years working for Linkage Community Trust as an Independence Tutor; caring and providing education for young people with SEN or learning disabilities. I have spent time in Poland & Slovenia, teaching in schools about British culture, values and language. I have been the manager at the New Life Centre now for 5 years where we provide support to the local community in the form of youth provision, mental health support and sign posting, SEN social evenings, debt management, counselling and much more. We have a good link with Spilsby Primary Academy where I meet with the school mentor once a week in supporting the needs of families within our community.
